Tis Pity She's A Whore (her view)

Tis Pity She's A Whore is currently playing at Centerstage in Baltimore through April 5th. Let me start off by saying Centerstage holds a very special place in my heart. I've seen many shows there and in some way have enjoyed all of them. However, Tis Pity She's A Whore is just dull.

Based on the title I believed this show to be a comedy, my fault for not really researching before hand. Once I realized it was a drama, I still was intrigued by the prospects of it. It just left a whole lot to be desired. They basically spent the whole first act repeating themselves. There were too many story lines that were impossible to follow and some characters were completely superfluous. Including, La Morte (the angel of death), I believe that might be an Irene Lewis creation but I can't be sure.
So I got psyched for the swordfights and combat in the 2nd act. I was very let down. The staging of the combat was in such a way that it looked completely fake. The blood was remenicent of my days in high school  theatre.
There were 2 things that made me very angry after the show. 1) They had a prop bed that was never really used in the show. So they cut from the program but they bought a totally useless prop.
SPOILER ALERT
(2) When they kill the girl at the end he stabs her in the stomach and then cuts her heart out. However, the crappy blood job was only on her belly. Her chest (where her heart was supposedly cut out) was fairly white. Which is basically impossible.

So all in all a good bit a details were missed and the staging was pretty poor. I highly recommend to support Centerstage, but maybe wait for Souvenir
